Robert James Wren

Robert James Wren, is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Achiever in the field of Aerospace in acknowledgement of his role as an Aerospace Engineering Manager and Top Engineer at NASA’s Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center. After voluminous years of service, Mr. Robert Wren retired in 2000. He remains a Registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas.

Located in Houston, TX, the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center is a center for human spaceflight that conducts training, research, and flight control. The center has been a leader in human space exploration for over fifty years. Currently, they are working with the American aerospace industry to develop and operate innovative spacecraft and launch systems that will be capable of carrying crews to low-Earth Orbit and the international space station on to the moon and Mars.

During his thirty-eight year tenure, Mr. Robert Wren was involved in space missions, while having expertise in system management. Most recently, he was the Manager in the Engineering Directorate of Vehicle and Payload Flight System Safety. He also served as the Head of the Experimental Dynamics section, the Manager of Structural Design and Development, the Alternate Chairman of the Space Shuttle Payload Safety Review Panel, and a Member of the Space Shuttle Payload Safety Review Panel. He is also recognized for his contribution as a Manager of the assessment programs for the Apollo Lunar Module-2 Drop and Apollo Spacecraft 2TV-1 CSM. He excelled in the industry on account of his education and his prior professional experience as a Structural Test Engineer at General Dynamics and as an Associate Engineer and Hydraulic Engineer at the United States Bureau of Reclamation.

In recognition of educational endeavors, Mr. Wren graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1956. After this achievement, he attended the Southern Methodist University in 1962, graduating with a Master of Science in Civil Engineering. He continued his education at the University of Houston, becoming a doctoral candidate. He was inspired to have a career in engineering on account of his father, James Wren, who constructed dams and bridges throughout the United States.

To further professional development, Mr. Wren is affiliated with the NASA Alumni Association and the Rotary Club of Space Center. At the space club, he mentored young adults who would soon enter the field of aerospace.

On account of Mr. Wren’s experience in the aerospace industry, NASA has bestowed him the Sustained Superior Performance Award, Outstanding Service Award, and Personal Letters of Commendation.

Mr. Wren dedicates this recognition to his mother and father, James and Gladys Wren, and his brother, Lou Wren.
