Sherry Carlson, Resource Soil Scientist

Sherry Carlson is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Professional in the field of Scientific Research. Sherry is a Resource Soil Scientist with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. As a Resource Soil Scientist, Sherry’s responsibilities  include technical soil services such as  etland determinations for USDA program participants and the dissemination of soil survey maps and land-use interpretations to  employees, partners, and the general public. In addition, she works cooperatively with conservation partners on  projects and events, such as the Sunbelt Ag Expo, the  Conservation Production Systems Training Conference,  the Natural Resources Conservation Workshop, and the Georgia Envirothon.

Sherry is extremely knowledgeable in the areas of soil properties, soil classification, and soil interpretations, as well as wetland delineations. In addition, she provides training and technical assistance to NRCS employees, cooperators, professionals, educators, and the general public on soil resources, their limitations, and their suitabilities, primarily with regards to land use management and conservation of natural resources.  In addition to her role with the USDA, Sherry is also a member of many esteemed professional and service organizations, including the Soil Science Society of Georgia, Association of Women Soil Scientists, National and Georgia Chapters of the Soil and Water Conservation Society, Georgia Conservation Tillage Alliance, Georgia Master 4-H Club, UGA Ag Alumni Association, the Natural Resources Conservation Workshop Board of Directors, and the Georgia Envirothon Council.  Sherry received her Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Soil Science from the University of Georgia.
