Robert B. Acomb

Robert B. Acomb is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Professional in the field of Legal Services as a result of his role as Attorney and Senior Partner with Jones, Walker, Waechter, and Poitevent. Jones, Walker, Waechter, Poitevent have multiple locations across the United States. The New Orleans office was established in 1937 and from its entrepreneurial beginning has become the largest law firm in New Orleans, with more than 140 attorneys engaging in a broad-based practice representing local, national, and international clients. Principal areas of practice include admiralty and   ritime, labor and employment, litigation, business and finance, energy, estates and tax, and corporate and securities. With over 50 years of experience, Robert specializes in admiralty and maritime law, business and commercial litigation, class action defense and multi-district litigation, government relations and legislative advocacy, and international professional liability. In addition to his position at the firm, he also taught Maritime Law at Tulane University for 30 years.

Robert helped established Bethlehem University on the Holy Land per the request of Pope John Paul II, and due to that was named Knight of St. Gregory the Great by Pope John Paul II. He was honored with   the Trial Advocacy Award from the Louisiana State Bar Association in 1992, was awarded Order of St.  Louis by the Archdiocese of New Orleans, has an AV Peer Review Rating in Martindale-Hubbell, and was listed in The Best Lawyers in America 2014 in the areas of Admiralty & Maritime Law, Legal Malpractice Law-Defendants, Personal Injury Litigation - Defendants, and Railroad Law.

Also, Robert has multiple published works under his belt in addition to being a member of many affiliations and programs. He is involved with the American Bar Association, Louisiana Bar Association, Maritime Law Association of the United States, American College of Trial Lawyers, Federal and American Bar Association and more. He has earned both his JD and BBA from Tulane University
