Dr. Thomas M. DeBerardino, M.D. is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Professional; in the field of Sports Medicine. Dr. DeBerardino is an Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery with the University of Connecticut Health Center.
in his current role, Dr. DeBerardino specializes in Sports Medicine; Arthroscopic Surgery of the Knee, Hip and Shoulder; Management of Complex Injuries of the Knee and Shoulder; Arthroscopic Management of Hip impingement in Young Active Adults; Hip Arthroscopic Procedures to avoid the Development of Arthritis and Osteotomies; as well as Cartilage Repair Procedures to Limit Degeneration of the Knee Joint.
Prior to joining the University of Connecticut Health Center, Dr. DeBerardino spent eight years at the United States Military Academy where he was the Head Team Physician for the collegiate athletic teams and Director of the Sports Medicine Fellowship program. In addition, he served as the Team Physician for UConn athletic teams including football and the men’s and women’s basketball programs, as well as for the UFL Hartford Colonials football team.
Additionally, Dr. DeBerardino is the author of over 40 scientific articles on ligament, tendon and cartilage injuries of the knee and shoulder and serves as a journal reviewer for several professional journals. Both Dr. DeBerardino skills in writing and talent in the field of Orthopedic Surgery have earned him numerous awards and honors. Some of these professional honors include, Airborne School Graduate, 1983; Army Service Ribbon, June 1989; Army Commendation Medal, June 1991, June 1997, October 2003; Army Achievement Medal, June 1998; Meritorious Service Medal, May 2001, May 2009; Kirk Award Honorable Mention for presentation: Glenoid Labrum Evaluation with MR Arthrography, MR Imaging, and CT Arthrography. Dr. DeBerardino earned his M.D. from New York Medical College, and also holds a B.S. in Chemistry from the United States Military Academy, West Point.
