Shelly Carlson is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Platinum Lifetime Member in recognition of her contributions to the field of Speech Coaching. Carlson’s professional title is Owner and Speech Coach at Powerful Speech, which specializes in speech and vocal coaching for clients, as well as vocal technique and presentation skills. She has worked in this position for the past five years and brings expertise in vocal skills, books and writing to her role. In addition to speech and technique, Carlson utilizes additional expertise in the areas of acting, theater, improvisation, voice acting, voiceover work and accent reduction. She utilizes over 30 years of field experience when working with her clients. Additionally, Carlson offers an impressive array of voice acting skills, including: commercial voiceover, promos, voicemail and phone systems, audio books, video games, documentaries, movies and game trailers and podcasts. She can also recreate a baby’s voice, “upper crust” diction, character voices and British accents, to name a few. As a result of her exceptional skills and training, Carlson touts an impressive resume of projects. She has worked with the likes of Sears, Kraft, Mr. Clean and Pontiac – and has recorded vocals for audio books including fairy tales and industrial narrations. Carlson attended The Juilliard School where she earned a Master’s degree in Acting. She also earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Acting from Illinois Wesleyan University, and performed as a Main Stage Actor. To further her professional development, Carlson is a member of SAG-AFTRA, AEA and the National Association of Professional Women. When not working, she volunteers her time to a local battered women’s shelter as well as to Planned Parenthood. She also enjoys attending theater and opera performances and reading plays as well as biographies. Carlson dedicates this recognition to her mother, Carae, and to the loving memory of her father, Roy.
