Janet Coleman, EdE

Janet Coleman, Ed.E is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Professional of the Year in the field of Education. Janet is the Owner of MJ, Etc. MJ, Etc. is a fairly new company that was created by  its owner and professional education consultant, Janet Coleman.

The workshops presented are for teachers  and administrators and provide a considerable range  of resource materials developed by consultants for all grade levels that are classroom tested, ready-to-use, unique strategies resulting in success for all students  in the field of Language Arts. Dr. Coleman and her partner, Mary Ledbetter work with teachers in the classrooms  to both model and coach successful key elements of writing and reading. At times, they will divide by grade levels,  with Dr Coleman concentrating on the elementary  and middle schools, while her partner works with the high schools.

However, the administrators are also invited  to attend workshops or visit the classrooms to aid them  in understanding exactly what their students are taught  and to enhance the learning experiences of the teachers and students. The philosophy of the company is that the teaching of reading and writing are not a “one-shot deal”. Follow-up and additional workshops are always advised  to ensure the success of all students.

As Owner, Janet specializes in educational services including education training and consulting. She works with both  students and teachers, and provides a considerable range of resource materials developed by consultants for all grade levels. Janet works with students ranging from K-12, and each student’s progress is assessed and monitored, weaknesses are identified, and skills are retaught with  consult coaching.

With over twenty years in education, Janet has acquired  a vast amount of knowledge and experience. Her first teaching position was in a Middle School teaching Language Arts and later became a Reading Specialist, helping  to develop and implement a program for those who have the characteristics of dyslexia. After earning her doctorate in reading and early childhood, she was hired as a Director of Language Arts and went on to become the Assistant  Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction. Becoming  an educator was never a difficult decision for Dr. Coleman. She watched and admired her aunt, Fern Craig enjoy  her own teaching experiences. They often held long discussions about education and what actually works in a real classroom.

Janet is proud to have followed in her aunt’s footsteps and will always be grateful for the excellent role model she had in her aunt. Throughout her long history in education, Janet earned  her BS in Elementary Education and English, her Reading Specialists Certification, a Master’s in Education and  a Doctorate Degree, all from the University of North Texas and Texas Woman’s University. She is a life-long learner, who believes no one should ever stop trying to become better at helping those that need it most, our children. For more information, please visit www.mjetc.org
