Judy A. Hunter, MD, FACP

Judy A. Hunter MD, FAAP, is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Top Pediatrician for her commitment, leadership, and professional excellence in the field of Medicine.

Dr. Judy A. Hunter is a highly distinguished Pediatrician, having led an impressive medical career for nearly 35 years. Since 1991, she has served patients at 3565 Del Amo Boulevard in Torrance California with Optum/HealthCare Partners Medical Group. She has also devoted 15 years as a Lead Physician in Pediatrics at HealthCare Partners Medical Group. She has served as a PI on numerous research studies in such therapeutic areas as Asthma, Migraines, Infectious Disease, Dermatology, and Vaccines to name a few, and participates in the training of Nurse Practitioners in the field of Pediatrics. Dr. Hunter utilizes her vast repertoire of expertise and experience to provide the best possible care to children, adolescents, and young adults from birth to 22 years of age. She is an experienced Lactation Consultant and provides gynecological care and even ear piercing as a service to her patients. Dr. Hunter’s patient philosophy is to create a trusted bond between her patients’ and their families built on collaborative compassionate care with an emphasis on preventive medicine through patient education. She continues to demonstrate the highest level of profes- sionalism, compassion, and integrity with her patients and in every professional endeavor.

To prepare for her career, Dr. Hunter completed her undergraduate studies and graduated cum laude from the University of Michigan with her Bachelor of Science Degree. She then obtained her Medical Degree from Wayne State University, School of Medicine in 1983. She completed her Pediatric Residency at Children’s Hospital of Michigan, where she served as Chief Resident. With a commitment to excellence, Dr. Hunter maintains board-certification in Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics. She also maintains an active membership with Phi Beta Pi-Theta Kappa Psi Medical Fraternity/Sorority and the Association of Black Women Physicians.

Throughout her extensive career, Dr. Hunter gained valuable knowledge and experience in various roles. She served patients at two private practices, Ralph Cash, M.D. in Detroit Michigan, and at Metropolitan Associates in Pediatrics, P.C. in Livonia, Michigan from 1986-1987. She then relocated to New Jersey and accepted a position as a Pediatrician at Bridgeton Area Health Services Family Health Care Center in Bridgeton from 1987-1991. She was named to the position of Assistant Chief of Pediatrics at South Jersey Hospital in Bridgeton, serving in this position until 1991 when she relocated to California.

Renowned for her contributions to the community, Dr. Hunter is proud to serve as the Regional Director of Los Angeles Teen- shop, Inc., an innovative positive peer group nonprofit organization serving “ Girls with Goals”. Every member of Teenshop is expected to attend an institute of higher education and they travel the coast of California to visit college campuses as well as attend workshops designed to improve their leadership skills and prepare them to become change agents in their community. Teenshop members have accompanied Dr. Hunter on missions to assist with HIV testing and Pediatric care in the Caribbean, as well as work alongside healthcare professionals to provide medical services to indigent residents and others in need. LA Teenshop has sent back- packs and school supplies to Africa, hygiene kits and clothing to a girls’ orphanage in Haiti, fed the homeless with the Salvation Army, assisted with Voter Registration, donated books, and promoted literacy at the Lydia House and Jenesse Woman’s Shelters.

Teenshop members have also participated in numerous fundraising activities for the Homeless, Diabetes, Breast Cancer, Parkin- son’s, Leukemia, and Lymphoma just to name a few. Dr. Hunter founded the LA chapter in 1994 and it is still going strong after serving over 500 girls in its over 25-year history.
