Shelana Hazelton, RN, BSN

Shelana Hazelton RN, BSN, is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Top Nurse in the field of Nursing and for her professional excellence as a Registered Nurse with Signature HealthCARE PRN.

Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Shelana Hazelton RN, BSN is proud to have overcome the obstacles she faced in her life. After relocating to Panama City, Florida, she knew her and family’s lives would change. Mrs. Hazelton’s mother was diagnosed with Leukemia and before she passed away, she was filled with all the information her mother thought she needed to be a success. During the last two years of her mother’s life, she was prepared as she inherited a great deal of responsibilities around the house all while being her mother’s caregiver. Thereafter, she was granted a scholarship and obtained her nursing degree from Gulf Coast State College in Panama City, Florida in December 2009 all while working three jobs. January 2011, a month after the birth of her youngest daughter she became a Registered Nurse.

Mrs. Hazelton has experienced a great deal of loss, and still perseveres to fight hard for her career. Her purpose is fulfilled when she can make another individual feel good; to instill someone with hope and help maintain their faith.

As a highly trained and respected registered nurse, Mrs. Hazelton began her distinguished career in 2006 at Panama City Nursing Center as a hospitality aid while pursuing the CNA 2 week crash course provided by the company. She flourished in varying positions throughout her 10-year career as a home nurse, as well as serving children at a pediatric daycare. She maintained 12 years of employment Panama City Nursing Center. She has also served as a Supervisor-RN at Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC) Children’s Medical Center, and served the same role supervising six counties at Tender Touch Health Care Services in Panama City, FL.

At Signature HealthCARE at The Courtyard PRN, Mrs. Hazelton not only cares for patients but she also trains new nurses, all while demonstrating the highest level of professionalism and integrity. She is committed to offering a caring and compassionate approach to her work and continues to remain humble. Mrs. Hazelton strives to keep a smile on her face, and hopes that she is remembered as the greatest advocate delivering the best care she can provide.

Mrs. Hazelton attributes her success to many people who have inspired her throughout the years, including Mariam Bowman RN, who filled her with so much knowledge; her 3-11 charge nurse when she was a CNA, Rhonda Decker LPN who was great at multitasking and time management; and the nurse practitioner, Carol Andersen ARNP-C who she trained under and taught her to treat everyone with respect, always do the right things, and pay attention to the details. Among her family and friends, she has received an abundance of support and inspiration to continue to helping people.

In recognition of her professional excellence, Mrs. Hazelton has been awarded employee of the month on multiple occasions on every job she has been employed as well as Today’s Nurse.

Mrs. Hazelton is married to Derwin Hazelton. They have two children, Jayla and Carliya. presently, she takes pride in caring for her family full time as her husband battles stage 4 colorectal cancers with METS to the lungs.

In her free time, Mrs. Hazelton enjoys catching a good series on Netflix, reading a book, and scrapbooking. She is currently assembling a recipe book as she cooks for her family.
