James F. Leckman, is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as Top Distinguished Professor in the field of Child Psychology as a Professor of Child Psychology with Yale University.
Child psychology consists of study the conscious and subconscious childhood development, why human beings change throughout their life. A child psychologist assesses, diagnoses, and treats children with slight or severe mental, emotional, or social disorders. They provide help to not only the children but their families as well, to be happy and successful in their day-to-day lives, and reach developmental milestones as a unit.
Dr. James F. Leckman has 45 years of experience working in the mental health field providing psychiatric services to children and families. He works with children suffering from Tourette syndrome and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. Tourettes Syndrome is a neurodevelopmental disorder and Obsessivecompulsive disorder is characterized by unreasonable thoughts and fears or obsessions, both show signs in childhood or adolescence. He also treats Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, a neurological disorder that causes a range of behavior problems also in early childhood and adolescent development.
Dr. Leckman finds innovative solutions to help maintain these sometimes debilitating disorders, so his patients can further maintain a quality of life outside of their visits. More recently he has been working with colleagues internationally to develop and bring to scale early childhood development programs of proven value to help build a more peaceful world.
Earning his Doctor of Medicine from the University of New Mexico in 1973, Dr. Leckman went on to earn his Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil in 2014. He is a noted member of the American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Child Adolescent Psychiatry. You can also find him affiliated with the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology as well as the Early Childhood Peace Consortium, Brain and Behavior Research Foundation, the World Childhood Foundation, USA, and the Alliance for Decision Education.
Dr. Leckman has shared his knowledge by having authored and co-authored more than 490 articles published in peer-reviewed journals, 12 books, and 140 book chapters related to Child Psychiatry.
