Anna Tobia, Ph.D. is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Achiever in the field of Psychology as a Psychologist at Thomas Jefferson University Marcus Institute of Integrative Health and in the Department of Integrative Medicine and Nutritional Sciences.
The Marcus Institute of Integrative Health, established in 2017 by Thomas Jefferson University and Jefferson Health to set the international standard of excellence in evidence-based, patientcentered integrative care. Using innovative blends of traditional medicine, state of the art technology and proven complementary therapies, all Center doctors are trained to not only treat, but prevent a range of chronic health issues, as well as empower patients to proactively maintain their health and wellness throughout their life. The Department of Integrative Medicine and Nutritional Sciences is a first-of-its-kind academic department, preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals to meet the growing demand for evidence-based, holistic care. Jefferson’s Department of Integrative Medicine and Nutritional Sciences features a novel curriculum focusing on the clinical applications of integrative medicine with an emphasis on functional biochemistry, nutrient-based therapies, mind-body neuroscience, and novel mechanisms of healing and emerging therapies. The program offers a master’s degree and several certificate programs, including Integrative Nutrition and Mind-Body Medicine. The physicians and staff pride themselves in providing excellent clinical and compassionate and comprehensive care for their patients. Dr. Tobia is actively involved in curriculum development, training of fellows and teaching staff.
Dr. Tobia has been in the mental health industry for over 20 years. She spends her time in her active clinical practice where she helps children and adults who struggle with a range of anxiety disorders such as panic disorder, PTSD, and OCD, as well as depression, and struggles with adjustment. In additional; she has a unique focus on health psychology which is the impact that chronic and acute illness has on our sense of well-being. She has conducted research in helping patients cope with cancer, as well as gynecological issues. She recognizes that struggling with physical illness creates a unique set of stressors that go largely ignored but have a tremendous impact on quality of life. Dr. Tobia is a certified NET doctor, and holds advanced training in EMDR and hypnosis.
A published author, Dr. Tobia has contributed to two books: Loo, May Integrative Medicine for Children (St. Louis, MO: Elsevier Saunders, 2009) and Monti and Newberg Integrative Psychiatry 2019 and several research articles on Neuro Emotional Technique. In addition to her career accomplishments, Dr. Tobia also serves as the Director of JeffQuit a highly successful smoking cessation program. She provides comprehensive smoking cessation services in a group and individual format.
