Mariana S. Markell, FAST, FNKS, is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Achiever in the field of Medicine as a Nephrologist at SUNY Downstate Medical Center.

SUNY Downstate Medical Center is a public medical school and hospital known for delivering patient-centered care, pioneering research, and excellent education. Dr. Markell works for the Division of Renal Disease as an associate professor of medicine and the director of the Transplant Nephrology Fellowship.

Backed by 30 years of experience, Dr. Markell is a leading nephrologist in New York City. Her areas of expertise include transplants, post-transplant metabolic diseases, and chronic kidney disease associated with diabetes.

In recognition of academic achievements, Dr. Markell earned an undergraduate degree at Yale University and a medical degree at NY Medical College. Following graduation, she completed a residency at Columbia University Medical Center Residency.

Active in philanthropic work, Dr. Markell donates to the National Kidney Foundation. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys spending time with her husband Jody and children Miranda, Max, and Peter. She is also involved with the Treasure Tower. They offer products that represent the emergence of one’s highest potential from deep within one’s life. They donate a quarter of profits to charities, such as an international world peace organizations and animal rescue organizations.
