Dhiman Basu, MD, is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Achiever in the field of Medicine as the Owner of Heritage Rheumatology.

Rheumatology is a branch of medicine devoted to the diagnosis and therapy of disorders of the joints, muscles, and ligaments. Dr. Dhiman Basu is the owner of Heritage Rheumatology, treating patients in all aspects of Rheumatology and is the principal investigator in multiple clinical trials in the field of Rheumatology.

Other common diseases he treats in his patients include osteoarthritis, gout, rheumatoid arthritis, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Psoriatic arthritis, Vasculitides, Sarcoidosis, Uveitis, Behcet’s syndrome and lupus.

A Fellow of American College of Rheumatology(ACR), State of Texas Association of Rheumatology(STAR) and the Association of Women in Rheumatology(AWIR), Dr. Dhiman Basu is also a National Key Opinion Leader and known to public and conference speaking engagements. He believes medical science is vast, and one has to choose the one that they think they can pursue without feeling bored or burnt out after some years of practice. That’s why he chose Rheumatology as his career, however, getting into the fellowship training, doing research and publishing his work are just some of the challenges that he faced coming up in the field, But he never gave up.

Dr. Basu earned his Bachelor of Sciences in pre-med at Calcutta University and his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Calcutta National Medical College. Following receiving her MBBS at Calcutta National Medical College, Calcutta, India, Dr. Basu attended NRS Medical College also in Calcutta, India earning his MD in internal medicine and then moved on to do another Internal medicine Residency with the University of Texas at Houston. After his residency, Dr. Basu was invited for a Rheumatology fellowship with the University of Michigan of Ann Arbor.

With goals to expand his practice and research along with teaching and educating the younger generation, Dr. Basu wants to leave a legacy for his students, that he has something good for humanity by being a Physician. In his free time, Dr. Dhiman Basu enjoys spending time with his parents Syamsundar Basu and Tapoti Basu, his wife Isitri Modak, MD, 20 years married and their two daughters.
