James G. Wigington, MD, is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Achiever in the field of Medicine as a Family Physician at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center.
Established in 1885 at the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad Hospital, Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center first provided medical services for railroad employees and their families during Western expansion. A group of local leaders purchased the hospital in 1962, it became a publicly owned institution in 1976, and it was officially renamed in 1989. Dubbed as one of the top 100 critical access hospitals by the National Rural Health Association, the non-profit center offers a full spectrum of services, including family medicine, obstetrics, and nursery. Dr. Wigington started working at the center recently, specializing in family medicine and obstetrics, including cesareans.
An admired doctor, Dr. Wigington has eighteen years of experience as a physician. His areas of interest include family medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, and sports medicine.
In preparation for his career, Dr. Wigington earned an undergraduate degree from Colorado State University. He went on to attend the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center for a medical degree, training as a resident at Northern Colorado Medical Center. He is board certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine.
Remaining aware of the latest developments, Dr. Wigington is a member of the Colorado Medical Society, American Academy of Family Practice, and Colorado Academy of Family Practice. An active member of his community, he volunteers as a medal director at a local home and health hospice.
In recognition of awards, Dr. Wigington received the Patient’s Choice Award in 2013 and 2014 and the Compassionate Doctor Award in 2012 and 2014.
