Dr. Wanebo is an established surgical oncologist. Before retirement, he served patients at the Roger Williams Medical Center, a university-affiliated teaching hospital in Providence, RI, and at his private practice in Woonsocket, RI. He primarily focuses on the surgical treatment of a variety of tumors. He is one of the creators of the University of Virginia Surgical Oncology program. Prior to his medical career, he served two years for the United States Army, serving one year in Vietnam.
With an exceptional educational background, Dr. Wanebo earned a Bachelor of Science at the Regis College and a Doctorate of Medicine at the University of Colorado Medical School. He then went on to complete residencies at the University of San Francisco.
Highly respected his field, Dr. Wanebo is affiliated with the American Surgical Association, College of Surgeons, Society of Surgical Oncology, American Head and Neck Society, American Society for Clinical Oncology, American Association for Cancer Research, New England Surgical Society, and American Cancer Society.
An acclaimed physician, he is a published author and has been invited to speak nationally at over one hundred conferences.
Dr. Wanebo has been married to his wife for over fifty years. Since retirement, he has been enjoying skiing and listening to classical piano music.
