Anthony B. Campbell, DO, FACP, is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Achiever in the field of Medicine as an Internist, Clinical Pharmacologist, and Addiction Medicine Specialist.
An acclaimed medical professional, Dr. Campbell is currently serving as the Medical Director of Concentra Urgent Care in Fairfax, VA. He is responsible for the daily clinical operations that entail urgent care and occupational health cases, as well as governmental medical certifications. He specializes in treating patients who have a history of substance abuse. Renowned for being compassionate, he has been receiving an enormous amount of praise from former patients for the last thirty years.
Before his current position, he was affiliated with the US Public Health Services Center for Substance Abuse Treatment. He served twenty-seven years of active duty in multiple roles that have national impact. He has held several prestigious titles such as Medical Consultant to Secretary of Health, Policy Contributor, and Physician Substance Abuse Training Specialist.
Dr. Campbell received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a minor in mathematics from Howard University. He also obtained a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy at the Howard University College of Pharmacy. He finished his research and graduate study at the Harvard Chemistry Department, later earning a Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine with honors at the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, OH. He completed his internal medicine residency at Franklin Square Hospital in Baltimore, MD. He is a board eligible certified addiction medicine specialist, licensed pharmacist, and board certified in internal medicine.
In recognition of accomplishments, Dr. Campbell has made significant impacts in his field. He planned, designed, directed, and evaluated the development of a pharmacotherapy-based treatment standards and guidelines. Fighting America’s Opioid Crisis, he was also in charge of providing responses to national congressional policies. Additionally, he played a momentous part in the implementation of the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment promoting community-based treatment and recovery options.
An active advocate for public health, Dr. Campbell volunteers at local church health fairs and administers high school sports physicals. He is also a public speaker, providing education on substance abuse and health to the general public.
Dr. Campbell would like to dedicate this recognition to fellow doctors H.Wesley Clark, MD, JD, MPH, CAS, FASAM, who is the former Director for Substance Abuse Treatment Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration (SAT/SAMHSA) and Kenneth R. Scott, Ph.D., who is the former Chairman of Biomedicinal Chemistry at Howard University College of Pharmacy in Washington, D.C.
