Zahra Sara Afshari, MD, is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Achiever in the field of Medicine in acknowledgment of her unmatched patient care as a Neurologist, President, and Owner at Neurology at the Glen.
Located fifteen miles northwest of the Chicago Loop, Neurology at the Glen has been offering outpatient, electromyography, neurology, and holistic services for six years. Patients have praised Dr. Afshari for being friendly, empathetic, detail-orientated, and knowledgeable. She is uncompromising in her devotion to the well-being of her patients, diagnosing illnesses that other pediatricians and specialists have failed to identify.
Dr. Afshari specializes in general neurology, neurophysiology, and neurodiagnostics. She became a neurologist in 2010, working in prominent positions within healthcare systems. Committed to quality patient care, she did not want to continue working for facilities constrained to a health system. She dreamed of practicing medicine effectively; with appropriate appointment lengths, patient advocacy, and referrals to the best specialists instead of those who are within a specific health system.
Dr. Afshari first attended the University of Michigan, where she earned a Bachelor of Art in near eastern studies and a Bachelor of Science in microbiology and immunology. She then received a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She trained as a neurology resident at the University of Michigan and a clinical neurophysiology fellow at Northwestern University. She is board certified in neurology, clinical neurophysiology, and electrodiagnostic medicine (ABEM), and has certification in brain death examination and interrogation and programming.
A published writer, Dr. Afshari has shared her expertise in multiple publications and as a conference presenter. On top of these accomplishments, she received two service scholarships and was recognized as a Top Doctor in neurology.
Active in her field, Dr. Afshari is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, Illinois State Neurological Society, Women Neurologists Group, and Advocate Physician Partners. Dr. Afshari would like to dedicate this recognition to her mother, Mrs. Zarintaj Sarkarat.
