Veronica L. Schimp, DO, is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Professional in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology as Chief of Gynecologic Oncology at Orlando Health UF Health Cancer Center.
Double board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and gynecologic oncology, Dr. Schimp has been caring for women for over 16 years. She has served in her current position as Chief of Gynecologic Oncology for the past 11 years. She is an expert in minimally invasive surgery, using the da Vinci® Surgical System, and is an expert reviewer of other physicians who perform robotic surgery through the C-SATS performance review and training program. Well revered in her field, Dr. Schimp has contributed chapters towards notable medical journals as well as numerous articles and case studies on cancer of the female reproductive organs. Dr. Schimp has dedicated her practice to providing a safe place for gynecologic care, attributing her success to her hard work and supportive collaborators.
Licensed to practice medicine in Michigan and Florida and certified multiple times by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Schimp began her career at Lake Superior State University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Biology and Chemistry. Dr. Schimp went on to attend Michigan State University, graduating with a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 1994. She completed her residency with Wayne State University, Hutzel Women’s Hospital and a subsequent Fellowship at Anderson Cancer Center.
Throughout her impressive career, Dr. Schimp has accrued several honors, most notably in 2016 when she was honored as a Top Physician in Orlando. She also received the Patient’s Choice Award and America’s Top Oncologists Award for several consecutive years, and has been named in the Best Doctors in America® and Consumers’ Guide to Top Doctors. She is an esteemed member of several organizations, including the International Society of Gynecologic Oncologists, American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Society of Surgical Laparoscopists.
Dr. Schimp dedicates this recognition to her mentor, Dr. Michael Berkovic, Medical Oncologist in Metro Detroit; she would like to recognize him for his continuing guidance and inspiration.
