Susan H. Senft, MD is selected by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member in the field of Ophthalmology in recognition of her role at Island Eye Care Inc.
A private medical practice, Kailua-Kona’s Island Eye Care Inc. was founded by Dr. Susan H. Senft with the commitment of providing families with the latest innovations in medical technology utilizing state of the art equipment and quality medical and surgical care. Dedicated to providing their clients with the quality healthcare services they deserve, the practice offers medical and surgical treatment of the eye including refractive surgery to patients through ICLs and multi-focal intraocular lenses using LENSAR femtosecond laser technology
With over thirty six years of experience in the field of Ophthalmology, Dr. Senft has established herself as a trusted name in the profession. Throughout her career, she has attained extensive expertise in the areas of pediatric ophthalmology, anterior segment, and oculoplastics. Dr. Senft was inspired by a professor in the medical school who advocated helping people. When asked her advice to newcomers in the industry, Dr. Senft states that there is “too much reliance on computerization. There should be a focus on service to others. If I could do it all over, I would choose this profession.” Dr. Senft is a firm believer of that what you do has the effect of “ripples in a pond.”
While pursuing her educational endeavors, Dr. Senft attended George Washington School of Medicine and Health Sciences where she earned her Medical Doctor Degree. Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology since 1986, Dr. Senft would go on to attend Baylor College of Medicine where she completed her residency in Ophthalmology. To further enhance her professional development, Dr. Senft is a distinguished fellow of several elite organizations including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, and currently serves as president of the Hawaii Ophthalmological Society.
Charitable to various organizations, Dr. Senft is an avid volunteer in international ophthalmic missions including Orbis and See International, and Project Nicaragua.
