Elsbeth Kalenderian, DDS, MPH, Ph.D. is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as Pinnacle Professional of the Year in recognition of her role as Chair of the Department of Preventive and Restorative Dental Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco. Having been established since 1881, the University of California, San Francisco’s School of Dentistry has served in educating thousands of leading practitioners, scholars and academia. As one of the leading institutions specializing in oral and craniofacial health, UCSF School of Dentistry offers a wide array of graduate and residency programs. The program holds in high esteem their values and their mission is to, “advance health through excellence in patient care, education and discovery.” The university prides themselves on “Professionalism, Respect, Integrity, Diversity and Excellence.” Serving as Chair of the Department of Preventive and Restorative Dental Sciences, Dr. Kalenderian acts as the overseer of seven divisions and the employment of over two hundred fifty plus faculty members in this department. Having served in her current position for over a year and amassing over three decades of industry experience, Dr. Kalenderian specializes in Healthcare Management, Quality Improvement, and Patient Safety in Dentistry. Throughout the course of her education and training, Dr. Kalenderian attained her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Rijks Universiteit Groningen in the Netherlands. Next, she completed her residency as a Fulbright Scholar in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from Boston University in 1986. She received her Master of Public Health from Harvard University School of Public Health and a PhD from the University of Amsterdam in 2013. With over fifty peer reviewed publications, Dr. Kalenderian is an affiliate of several organizations including the American Association for Dental Research (AADR), Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), American Dental Education Association (ADEA) and American Dental Association (ADA). She is an inductee of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Society (Honorary Dental Society). Currently, Dr. Kalenderian serves as the Leland A. & Gladys K. Barber Distinguished Professor in Dentistry at UCSF School of Dentistry and a Principle Investigator on four NIH Funded R01 grants. When she is not working, Dr. Kalenderian enjoys fitness, reading, and playing the piano. Dr. Kalenderian dedicates this recognition in loving memory to her twin sister Annemieke.
