Continental Who’s Who recognizes Delrita H. Abercrombie, Ph.D., as a VIP Member in recognition of her contributions to the field of Medical Psychology. Dr. Abercrombie brings expertise in a multitude of expertise in a variety of subjects, including case management, psychological assessment, experimental and organizational psychology, psychopharmacology, neuropsychology and psychotherapy. “I’m an enthusiastic, dedicated professional who valued learning and human relationships,” Dr. Abercrombie said. Prior to joining the team at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center, Dr. Abercrombie began her career at Nassau County Head Start in Long Island, NY, as an administrative assistant. Following that position, she took her first job as a psychologist at Roosevelt Public School in Roosevelt, NY. She then held a position at the Nassau County Drug and Alcohol Commission. For 28 of her 38 years at Brookdale University Hospital, Dr. Abercrombie worked as a committee member at Salute to Youth, Inc., which raises funds for college scholarships for high school students in Brooklyn. She has also maintained a seat on the faculty of the College of New Rochelle for 38 years, teaching a variety of psychology courses. Dr. Abercrombie earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Hofstra University and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Middlebury College. She also holds a Postdoctoral Certificate in Psychopharmacology from Fairleigh Dickinson University. To further her professional development, Dr. Abercrombie is a member of the American Psychological Association, the New York State Psychology Association. She also devotes time to causes and groups including the Junior League, Autism Speaks and Brooklyn Links, Inc., which sends care packages to earthquake victims in Haiti. Outside of work, Dr. Abercrombie enjoys art, music, partaking in church activities and spending time with her two children and six grandchildren. She dedicates this recognition to the loving memory of both her mother, Dolores Hunter and her aunt, Rachel Hill.
