Amassing over eight years of career experience, Dr. Sigdel specializes in both internal and hospital medicine. Inspired by his deceased grandfather who wanted to see him become a physician to take care of the rural community in the village where he originated from, his grandfather was involved as a social activist in Syangja, Nepal. In his current capacity, Dr. Sigdel works, “as a team member of a tertiary care center” where he “admits patients in medical floors and coordinate care with other specialties.” In an effort to better serve the hospital’s clients, Dr. Sigdel’s practice offers a team of professionals that is specialized in an array of spoken languages for both English and non-English speakers, including Hindi and Nepali, as well as English. Dr. Sigdel advises a “blend of 4 things: motivation in mind, being honest in heart, integrity in practice, and inspiring aspirants and colleagues.” He goes on to say that the key to a rewarding career is not worrying about how many times you have fallen down, but having the courage to rise up again, stronger and strategic.” Throughout the course of his education and training, Dr. Sigdel attained his medical degree at the Institute of Medicine at the Maharaj Campus in Tribhuvan, Nepal, which he completed in 2009. He then went on to pursue residency training in the United States, and completed a Residency in Internal Medicine in Rochester, New York. A “stressful yet rewarding career,” when asked his advice to newcomers in the industry Dr. Sigdel states, “Medicine takes a lot of commitment, internal discipline and more time of your life. It is very important to be honest with yourself when you dedicate yourself to this accomplishing career. It is always worth it at the end of the day.” Sigdel believes that “You can choose who you want to become and work your way up accordingly.” When he is not working, Dr. Sigdel enjoys writing poetry, and he is involved with charitable works through the Health Foundation, a University teaching hospital located in Nepal. In looking to the future, Dr. Sigdel hopes to maintain a healthy lifestyle with his wife, Sabita, and continue educating his family, friends and patients.
