Leonard Stern, M.D., FASN is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Professional in the field of Healthcare as a result of his role as a Clinical Nephrologist and Associate Professor of Medicine at the Columbia University Medical Center.
Dr. Stern specializes in Nephrology, a branch of medicine related to the diagnosis and treatment of kidney diseases, including electrolyte disturbances and hypertension, and the care of those patients requiring renal replacement therapy, including dialysis and renal transplant. Dr. Stern is a renowned specialist in the management of home dialysis both peritoneal and hemodialysis. In addition, Dr. Stern specializes in treatment of kidney stones, metabolic abnormalities, as well as disorders of bone and mineral metabolism.
As a result of his dedication and professionalism, Dr. Stern is a member of the American Society of
Nephrology, International Society of Nephrology; Renal Physicians Association; American College of Physicians; International Society of Peritoneal Dialysis; National Kidney Foundation; and the New York Society of Nephrology. He was elected as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Nephrology and the National Kidney Foundation. He was also elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Society in medical school. In addition, Dr. Stern serves as a member of the Medical Advisory Board for the National Kidney Foundation of New York, an organization representing patients and professionals who treat kidney diseases.
Dr. Stern earned his M.D. from New York Medical College. He is currently Board Certified in both Nephrology and Internal Medicine.
