Terri L. Cork

Terri L. Cork is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a 1 Year Pinnacle Professional Member in the field of Education in recognition of her role as a Teacher at Danville Consolidated School District 118. Recognized as a safe and open school district to its community members, Danville Consolidated School District 118 envisions, “a diverse school district, free of bias, prejudice and fear, where all students and teachers utilize their skills to achieve the highest standards of excellence.” An advocate of unanimous support amongst teachers, parents and the community, the district aims to provide an environment that is free of any prejudice and bias based on the factors of race, ethnicity, gender, and socio-economic status. Cork collaborated with outside agencies, as a member of the Critical Incident Team, to develop coping strategies for possible major catastrophic disasters within schools, working as the committee’s secretary to help implement contingency planning. At Danville Consolidated, Cork is an Elementary Education teacher. Specialized in working with gifted children, Title Reading and Math, and regular education students, Cork is experienced in all facets of Kindergarten – Ninth Grade education, including 2 years as the districts first Technology Coordinator and their first webmaster. To further her professional development, Cork is an affiliate of several organizations including the Illinois Education Association Assemblies located in Chicago. With the National Education Association, she served as a state representative at national conferences in Washington DC, San Diego and this year’s Boston Conference. In the Danville Education Association, she served as a representative, as an officer, and several rolls on the administrative counsel. These rolls included secretary, membership officer, retirement program director, help to the negotiations team, grievance team member and as the elections supervisor. Cork is also an affiliate of Catlin UMC and Big Brothers, Big Sisters. The recipient of the distinguished honor of Who’s Who in Education in 2000, Cork attained her Bachelor of Science in Education from Southern Illinois University. Later, she attained her Master of Education in Administration from Eastern Illinois University. Thereafter, Cork specialized in title reading and math, dyslexia, regular education, technology, and gifted child program course work. Cork is dedicated to enthusiastic and dynamic teaching as a means of creating and nurturing a lifelong love of knowledge in children. She has been a Unit Leader and was the first one in her district to be certified to offer CPDU’s for teacher education from 1998 - 2002. When the University of Illinois and the Champaign, Ford and Vermilion County Regional Offices first got together, Cork was there to help plan and implement the Novice Teacher Program, where she became the creator of the program’s first Web site.
