Barbara Zipperer is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member in the field of Exchange Students in recognition of her role as International Exchange Coordinator (IEC) of EF High School Exchange Year. An international exchange program established over fifty years ago, EF High School Exchange Year is dedicated to, “encouraging cultural awareness through international exchange.” A leading innovator within the United States, the program serves as a catalyst for “cultural and educational exchange programs” within the United States. Offering unparalleled support 365 days a year, seven days a week with offices in over fifty countries and having helped serve over fifteen million people, the mission of EF is to, “break down barriers of language, culture and geography.” Amassing six months in her current position as an IEC, Zipperer specializes in working with families with small children, grown children, single parents, grandparents, and families without children. In her current capacity, Zipperer acts as a liaison between the exchange students and schools to foster a program of growth and development. Zipperer matches international high school students with caring volunteer host families. Through this method, Zipperer established a network within the school systems of Kewaunee & Manitowoc counties to develop strong relationships while enabling an open door policy for exchange students to be placed within the school districts. Throughout the course of her education and training, Zipperer attended Silver Lake College where she majored in Theological Studies. She also is a ministry consultant for Loyola Press, Chicago. In September 2017 they published her Curriculum Mapping for Grades 1-8, that corresponds with their “Christ Our Life Series.” Charitable to various organizations, Zipperer is an active volunteer and supports Boy & Girl Scouts, Mishicot/Kewaunee Area Scout troops. She received the “Golden Pelican” award in 2016 for assisting many local scouts receive their religious emblems. Previously, she served as Head Coach for the Manitowoc County Swim Team of Special Olympics Wisconsin. There, she coached participants 8 to 70 years of age, both male & female, where many of them qualified for the State games. In 1998 she received the “Governor’s Award” from Tommy Thompson for leadership, with the Wisconsin Department of Tourism, Main Street Program. When she is not working, Zipperer enjoys landscape painting, her family and 7 grandchildren.
