Patricia L. Highcove, CRC, CCM, CVE, is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a 2017 Pinnacle Lifetime Member in the field of Vocational Counseling. Highcove’s professional title is Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor through her own business, Highcove Consulting, which offers services such as vocational counseling, career exploration, job placement services, life transition seminars, desensitization and ergonomic assessments. Highcove brings over 30 years of field experience to her role, and considers her areas of professional expertise in business development, career counseling and assessment, case management, staff and team development, internal budgeting, program management and coordination, disability management, resume writing, vocational rehabilitation and temporary placement. “I work with people with disabilities and help them return to work,” Highcove said. “I provide expert vocational services regarding employability issues.” Additionally, Highcove acts as an expert witness in workers compensation, general liability, LTD, divorce, social security cases and more. Before beginning her business, Highcove gained an interest in the field when she first worked with developmentally disabled children. The work inspired her to pursue a career that would give her the opportunity to help improve their quality of life. Highcove earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Rehabilitation Services from Syracuse University, as well as a Master of Science degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, also from Syracuse University. She is also a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, a Certified Case Manager, a Certified Vocational Evaluator and a Certified Ergonomic Assessment Specialist. To further her professional development, Highcove is a member of the Board of the International Association of Rehabilitation Counselors – Chesapeake Chapter, and the National Association of Professional Women, which recognized her as a member of its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. In looking to the future, Highcove hopes to earn a Life Care Planner Certification as a short-term goal, and to transition into LCP and become an expert witness exclusively, as a long-term goal. When not working, Highcove volunteers with Kid’s Chance of Maryland as well as Special Olympics.
