Dr. Mary Jo Kelly

 Dr. Mary Jo Kelly, Ed.D., NBCT, is recognized by Continental Who’s Who among Professionals in the field of Education. Dr. Kelly is a Librarian and Educator at The Dufrocq School. With a passionate staff of qualified and knowledgeable professionals, the staff at The Dufrocq School work with students to provide them a world-class education with the necessary tools and guidance for a lifetime of success.

In the industry for forty six years, Dr. Kelly has been in her current position for three years where she is responsible for the oversight of all library functions as well as teaching information resources and general computing skills. To keep abreast of the latest in the industry, Dr. Kelly is an active member of the Louisiana Library Association, Louisiana Computer Users Education Association, Louisiana Association of Educators, East Baton Rouge Parish Association of Educators, National Education Association, International Society of Technology Educators, National Association of English Teachers, American Society for Curriculum Development, International Reading Association, Phi Delta Kappa, and the International Women’s Leadership Association.

 

Outside of school, Dr. Kelly enjoys arts and crafts and giving back to the community. She participates in fundraising for the Spanish Town Ladies Auxiliary, the Southdowns’ Mardi Gras Krewe, where she received the title of 2015 Queen of Mardi Gras, Krewes For Food, and Southside Civic Association. She is also a professional storyteller , visiting area libraries and schools during the summer to promote reading as The Book Doctor. She is also active in her church, St Aloysius Catholic Church, where she is a lector. Reflecting on her educational career, Dr. Kelly graduated from the Louisiana State University with her Ed.D. in Instructional Design and Technology, MS in Instructional Media and a BS in English Education and Speech with a minor in Social Studies.
