Bhoja R. Katipally, MD, MPH, FAAFP is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Top Family & Urgent Care Practitioner in the field of Medicine and acknowledgment of his outstanding contributions in his role with University Health System in San Antonio, Texas.

Having accrued 10 years of professional excellence, Board-Certified Family Practitioner Dr. Katipally has garnered extensive experience in Family Practice and Urgent Care. He is devoted to serving patients in San Antonio, Texas, and offering his vast repertoire of expertise in all in areas of family medicine. Combined with his expertise, Dr. Katipally speaks fluent Telugu and Hindi. He is currently seeing patients within the University Health System at Express Med Clinic, where he provides the highest quality of care to all his patients and also serving as the Medical Director for that service line. Dr. Katipally directly manages about 20-25 providers including physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners under multiple clinics with extended business hours, seven days a week serving nearly 100,000 visits a year. He enjoys teaching and making the difference in the lives of thousands of patients and families both directly and indirectly through his practice, leadership and teaching at the historic academic and community health system.

In light of his exceptional academic career, Dr. Katipally obtained his Medical Degree in 2002 at Kakatiya Medical College, Medical School in India. Upon relocating to the United States, he pursued his Masters of Public Health from Northern Illinois University before completing his Family & Community Medicine Residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2006 and been practicing as a Board Certified Family Physician since 2009.

Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Katipally excelled in various roles prior to his current role within the University Health System. He began his career as a staff physician and an adjunct faculty/clinical assistant professor over a decade ago. As a result of his professional excellence, he advanced through various leadership roles within the University Health System such as Associate Medical Director for a few services to his current Medical Director role.

As an Honorary Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and a healthcare leader, Dr. Katipally maintains active memberships and affiliations with other professional organizations including, but not limited to the American Medical Association, Urgent Care Association of America/Urgent Care College of Physicians, Texas Medical Association, and American College of Healthcare Executives. He continues to stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in his field.

In light of his professional achievements, Dr. Katipally has been recognized for his outstanding contributions to the field. Respected and admired by both his patients as well of his peers, he was recognized by the University Health System with various awards such as UHS Shining Star, Team of Quarter, and Employee of Quarter. He was also recognized as the Top Family Practitioner in the area by the Leading Physicians of the World (LPW) in 2016.

Besides his career as a dedicated physician and committed healthcare leader, Dr. Katipally volunteers his personal time at various community events and organizations. He is an active member of his community and currently serves on various committees and leadership roles at various non-profit organizations at local, regional, and national levels. With a deep passion for and a relentless obsession with the human behavior and peak performance, Dr. Katipally is working on his first book on personal development, “The New ME: A 5 Step Code to Unlock Your Potential Beyond College,” to be released soon.
