Philipp L. Dines, MD, PhD, FAPA, is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Achiever in the field of Medicine as a Psychiatrist and Division Head of Geriopsychiatry at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center (UHCMC) and Geropsychiatry Fellowship of UHCMC and Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) .

For more than 150 years, UH Cleveland Medical Center has been providing outstanding care to Cleveland and northeast Ohio. As one of the leading academic medical centers, the hospital has earned national recognition for innovation and quality care. Offering expert psychiatric services, the center employs doctors, who specialize in general and family psychiatry. Dr. Dines serves as Division Head of Geriopsychiatry and Geropsychiatry Fellowship, providing specialized care for older adults who have been diagnosed with a variety of conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias or neurocognitive disorders, depression, bipolar, anxiety, and psychosis in older people or general neuropsychiatric disorders in adults.

An acclaimed psychiatrist, Dr. Dines is revered for more than three decades of experience, having been professionally associated with UH since 1984, and promoted to assistant professor of psychiatry in September of 1999. He continues teaching, clinical practice and scholarly activities. He has held chief of department roles for over 14 years, medical director of psychiatric hospital and further leadership roles. Dr. Dines has been involved in clinical trials for over 15 years which primarily included trials in neurocognitive disorders. In May of 2018, he was promoted to medical director of the geropsychiatry division while he continues his role as the medical director of the geropsychiatry fellowship program. His areas of expertise include geropsychiatry and wide ranging teaching of various disciplines, implementing curriculum design for the geropsychiatry fellowship program, scholarly activities including with the American Association of Geropsychiaty and acting as a core faculty in the psychiatry department. This is in addition to very active neurogeropsychiatry clinical and forensic practice.

In recognition of academic success, Dr. Dines first earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical Engineering from Cleveland State University, formerly known as Fenn College of Engineering. At Case Institute of Technology, he earned a Master of Science (MS) and a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) in electrical engineering and applied physics. This was followed by two years of work as a project research electrical engineer in the defense industry with secret clearance and several confidential and secret publications. The recipient of multiple degrees, he then attended Case Western Reserve School of Medicine where he received a Doctorate of Medicine (MD), completing an internship in medicine and neurology, residency in psychiatry, and a biological research fellowship at UH Hospitals. He is board certified in general psychiatry and geropsychiatry with previous certifications in forensic and addiction psychiatry, in addition to certifying in ECT Treatment from Western Psychiatric Institute in 2009.

A frontrunner in his field, Dr. Dines is a distinguished life fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and an active contributing member of American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry, American Association of Forensic Psychiatry and a diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with active certification in General Psychiatry and the subspecialty of Geropsychiatry with previous certifications in Forensic Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry. He has served as neurogeropsychiatric and or psychiatric forensic expert in the area of malpractice, undue influence, competence, will contests and civil commitment among other areas for over 20 years to attorneys in multiples states and to the courts.

His is charitable activities have included but not limited to very active leader in Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church community, where he formerly served on the board director and community leader for many years.

As a testament to his success, Dr. Diness has received numerous awards and recognitions, including Marquis Who’s Who recognition in 2018 and 25 and 30 recognition Years of Excellence in Service by UH Case Medical Center in 2013 and 2018.

Dr. Dines dedicates this recognition to all of his loving family current and past. This includes particular recognition to his loving wife and daughter Niki and Anastasia Dines. This is also in loving memory of his brother George A Dines and to his entire family for their support.
