Angelo M. DelBalso, MD, DDS, FACR, is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Achiever in the field of Medicine and Education as a Professor and Chairman of the Department of Radiology at the University of Buffalo.
Recognized for decades of professional accomplishments, Dr. DelBalso is a professor emeritus, specializing in diagnostic maxillofacial/head and neck radiology. He has extensive experience training students on innovative imaging modalities that are used for diagnosing and treating conditions. He served as chair from 1995 to 2016, returning as a full-time professor at the end of his tenure.
As a radiology expert, Dr. DelBalso reviews articles for academic journals such as RadioGraphics, Military Medicine and Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology and Endodontology. Dedicated and well-regarded, he served twenty-five years in the military.
Radiology’s combination of technology and medicine influenced Dr. DelBalso’s decision to enter the field, advising new physicians to, “Look at everything, then choose” a profession. To prepare for his career, he earned a medical degree from Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Science, transitioning to National Naval Medical Center for training. He additionally earned a Doctorate of Dental Surgery.
Remaining abreast of latest developments, Dr. DelBalso is a fellow of the American College of Radiology and the American Society of Emergency Radiology, and the president of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology.
As a testament of his expertise, Dr. DelBalso received the Siegel Award in 2001 and a Teacher of the Year Award in 1999. He has shared his breadth of knowledge in multiple publications such as “An Approach to the Diagnostic Imaging of Jaw Lesions, Dental Implants, and the Temporomandibular Joint” in 1998 and “Role of Diagnostic Imaging in Evaluation of the Dental Implant Patient” in 1994, which has been cited over seventy times.
