Dr. Rufino always dreamed of working in the medical school. During high school, her father passed away and her sister helped Dr. Rufino pay for dental school. She graduated from Southwestern University in Cebu in 1986, passing the California Dental Board Exam, DDS, in 1992. Furthering her education, she enrolls in international classes in Santo Domingo for implants, and international classes for orthodontics.

Dr. Rufino dedicates this recognition in memory of her mother Purificacion Cano.
