Juan R. Sanabria, M.D., Ph.D., FRCSC, FACS, FAASLD, is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Achiever in the field of Medicine for his work as a Surgeon at Marshall Health.
Marshall Health services southwestern West Virginia as the largest and most comprehensive health care provider in the region. Established originally in 1970 by an authorization from federal legislation for the creation of new medical schools in conjunction with existing West Virginia Hospitals, Marshall Health today cares for patients at more than a dozen locations as a full-service teaching hospital.
Dr. Sanabria is triple board certified in Surgery, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and Advanced Trauma Life Support by American Board of Surgeons. Revered in the field of Surgery, Dr. Sanabria has published over 20 peer review papers and contributed to the establishment of the Mount Sinai Cancer registry for patients with familial polyposis, currently the Ontario Cancer Registry. Dr. Sanabria has been working in the healthcare field for 34 years, serving the last 2 years at his current location, Marshall Health.
After earning a Medical Degree in Bogata, Columbia, from the Colegio Mayor Nuestra Senora del Rosario, Dr. Sanabria relocated to Ontario, Canada, to continue his medical education. He received a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto Medical School and went on to complete a residency at this location in general surgery and completed his training with a fellowship at this location in hepatobiliary, pancreatic surgery and abdominal transplantation.
Well regarded in the Healthcare Community Dr. Sanabria has earned numerous accolades for his quality and patient-centered care, most notably earning the Leadership Fellowship Award from the National Hispanic Medical Association in 2013. Admirably, Dr. Sanabria is a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy Reserves as of 2014.
On the weekends, Dr. Sanabria offers his services as a Senior Navy Officer and Marine Surgeon.
