Benjamin Djulbegovic, M.D., Ph.D. is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member in the field of Medicine as a Professor in the departments of Hematology & Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation and Population Sciences, a professor and director of research in the Department of Supportive Care Medicine, and the director of Evidence-based Medicine and Comparative Effectiveness Research at City of Hope.

Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Hematology, Dr. Djulbegovic specializes in Hematology/Oncology, Supportive Care Medicine, Evidence-based Medicine, Decision Sciences, Clinical Research Methodology, Clinical Practice Guidelines, and Hematological Diseases. As of September 2017, Dr. Djulbegovic has published 310 papers in peer-review journals, 190 abstracts, two books and numerous book chapters.

Throughout his education and training, Dr. Djulbegovic received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Sarajevo in 1976, his Master of Science degree in Biophysics at the University of Zagreb in 1983, and his Doctorate degree of Biomedical Sciences from the University of Sarajevo in 1987.

Following this, Dr. Djulbegovic completed his residency of Internal Medicine at the University of Louisville in 1988 then went on to finish his fellowship in hematology and oncology in 1991 at the same university.

With over 30 years of experience in the medical field, Dr. Djulbegovic continues to further his professional development by being affiliated with the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology. Giving back to children in need, Dr. Djulbegovic is charitable to UNICEF.

Respected for his writing, Dr. Djulbegovic has been published in major scientific and medical journals including Nature, Lancet, JAMA, New England Journal of Medicine, and more. Receiving many awards for his work, Dr. Djulbegovic was also selected in Newsweek’s list of “Top Cancer Doctors”, and since 2011, he has continuously been selected in the top 1 percent of U.S. doctors by

U.S. News & World Report in the field of hematology. In 2018, he was included in the list of highly cited researchers for 2018, which “recognizes world-class researchers selected for their exceptional research performance, demonstrated by production of multiple highly cited papers that rank in the top 1% by citations for field and year in Web of Science.”

When he is not working, Dr. Djulbegovic enjoys spending time with family and reading.
