Irene Chatoor

Irene Chatoor, M.D., is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Professional Member in the Healthcare and Psychiatry fields. Dr. Chatoor serves as the Vice Chair of Psychiatry at Children’s National Health System. She has served the field since 1976, her position since 1990 and brings specified expertise in feeding disorders in infants to her role. Additionally, Dr. Chatoor is a Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics at the George Washington University, and is an advocate in early childhood feeding and eating interventions. She has been speaking nationally and across Asia, Europe and the South and Central Americas to pediatricians, gastroenterologists, psychologists and psychiatrists about children’s feeding problems. Outside of speaking, practice and teaching, Dr. Chatoor is the published author of “Diagnosis and Treatment of Feeding Disorders” and “When Your Child Won’t Eat or Eats Too Much,” and contributed to an article titled “A practical approach to classifying and managing feeding difficulties.” “After I published my first book on the ‘Diagnosis and Treatment of Feeding Disorders,’ geared towards pediatricians and professionals working with children who have feeding difficulties, I wrote this second book because I am being contacted more and more by desperate parents who have read one of my articles, and for the first time feel someone understands their child’s eating problems,” Dr. Chatoor said. Dr. Chatoor earned her Medical degree at the University of Heidelberg. She then went on to complete both her residency and fellowship in Pediatrics at Children’s National Medical Center through the George Washington University, an additional residency in Psychiatry at George Washington University and spent a transitional year completing an Internship at Providence Hospital. In addition to her degrees, Dr. Chatoor is Board certified in the areas of Psychiatry, Pediatrics and Child Psychiatry; and she also holds a Washington, D.C. medical license as well as a Maryland state medical license. To further her professional development, Dr. Chatoor is a member of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology; and the American Board of Pediatrics. When not working, Dr. Chatoor enjoys writing.
