Prior to working at Urology Partners, Dr. Weintraub served in the US Navy for four years as a General Medical Officer before retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Commander in 1989. While Dr. Weintraub does specialize in all aspects of general Urology and Urologic Cancer Surgery, he takes special interest in, “renal surgery, kidney stone management, and minimally invasive surgical treatments.” In addition, Dr. Weintraub was also the first physician of Manatee County to perform Microwave Therapy of the prostate. Board Certified through the American Board of Urology, Dr. Weintraub is a member of the American Urological Association, American Medical Association, Florida Urological Society and the Manatee County Medical Society. Additionally, Dr. Weintraub has served as President of “We Care”, an association founded by Manatee County physicians that provides over $200,000 to those who are working class, poor and uninsured. Dr. Weintraub has served on several pharmaceutical advisory boards and is frequently asked to speak at engagements about his knowledge in Urology. Dr. Weintraub attended Occidental College in 1981 and received his medical degree from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago in 1985. Dr. Weintraub later attended Tulane University where he completed his residency. Over the course of Dr. Weintraub’s career, Bedford Waters M.D. and George Gavrell, M.D., are two mentors that have had a tremendous influence on his development.
