Dr. Luigi Boccuto

Dr. Luigi Boccuto is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member in the field of Human Genetics in recognition of his role as a Geneticist and Assistant Research Scientist at JC Self Institute of the Greenwood Genetics Center.

With over twenty years of illustrious experience in the profession, Dr. Luigi Boccuto is revered for his extensive knowledge and pioneering trends in the Human Genetics field. Upon serving as a Research Scholar at Greenwood Genetic Center from 2007-2013, Dr. Boccuto was appointed as Head of the Phelan McDermid Syndrome Research Program at the Greenwood Genetic Center. Dr. Boccuto has attained extensive expertise in the areas of Human Genetics and Molecular Studies. Dr. Boccuto’s main projects are focused on the study of the genetic causes of autism, ID, and conditions with segmental or generalized overgrowth.

While pursuing his educational endeavors, Dr. Boccuto graduated from Medical School at the Universita` Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Rome, Italy in 2002. After training for several years under Professor Neri in Rome, Dr. Boccuto focused on hereditary cancer, overgrowth syndromes and intellectual disability (ID) syndromes.

Certified in Medical Genetics, to further enhance his professional development, Dr. Boccuto is a distinguished fellow of several elite organizations including the American Society of Human Genetics.

As a renowned geneticist, Dr. Boccuto is a well sought after expert who has published several articles on the autism spectrum disorder and genetic disorders.

In recognition of his professional accolades, Dr. Boccuto was the recipient of the “Gianmichele Laccetti”, for a thesis in Genetic Oncology, the 2003 edition.
